
Actually, in addition to cortisol and melatonin, at least two other hormones vary with circadian rhythm: prolactin and growth hormone. Like melatonin, these hormones peak at night. Also like melatonin, they favor an increase in the part of the immune response that promotes the inflammatory effects responsible for the damage done by diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
