
The very rich are also relying on funky mortgages to keep early payments down. "We find almost a 50-50 split between fixed rate and adjustable rate mortgages," the professors write, which is "intriguing because fixed rate mortgages tend to dominate ARMs in the marketplace, especially among borrowers with good credit histories."
