Lohan Loses It

The Page Six column in the Dec. 7 New York Post reports that actress Lindsay Lohan sent a "rambling, semi-literate e-mail to her friends and and lawyers" threatening to sic Al Gore, Bill Clinton, and Hillary Clinton on the tabloids. According to the Post, the immediate source of Lohan's ire was an earlier Page Six item alleging that at a party sponsored by GQ in Los Angeles, Lohan threw a "mean girls diva fit" over the presence of Lohan's former assistant, who quit and subsequently became an assistant to actress Jessica Biel.
Although the Post quotes the e-mail at some length, Slate thought you might like to see the entire document (see below), which was sent to 18 people on Nov. 30. In the e-mail, the person the Post identified as Lohan proposes that she send a "fully adequite [sic] letter to the press" in which she will "state my oppinions [sic] on how our society should be educated on for the better of our country." She also complains about a person identified as "LR" (whom neither the Post nor Slate can identify) and threatens to take LR "to court if need be for what she's done to me," which apparently involves "false accusations." Lohan further suggests suing the tabloids for defamation of character. However, she says she is not "fully aware" of what the accusations are ("but I am fully and eagerly prepared to learn them").
Slate has queried all 18 recipients via e-mail, requesting confirmation that Lohan indeed wrote it. One recipient wrote back, "Ewwww." When Slate sought clarification, this recipient replied, "Why r u emailing me?" Slate's answer (i.e., because you were sent this e-mail) yielded no further communication. Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik of BWR Public Relations in New York, wrote back, "i haven't seen this. all news to me." (Zelnik "had no comment" in today's New York Post.) Slate received no reply from the other 16.
Slate also wrote the person who identified herself as Lohan and received no reply. Slate was able to confirm, however, that this person's e-mail domain was the name of a company set up to conduct Lohan's financial affairs.
[Update, 4 p.m. EST: PerezHilton.com, a celebrity-gossip Web site, says that LR is "probably" Lohan's former assistant, whom PerezHilton previously identified as Lindsay Ratowsky.]
