Slate Contents

Good compost-pile ingredients, an extensive and yet incomplete list:

Fruit peels, autumn leaves, browned lettuce leaves, celery bottoms, carrot tops, old roses, dryer lint (especially if you wear a lot of cotton, which contains potassium), vegetable peelings, tea bags, coffee grounds, eggshells, cantaloupe rinds, unused kitty litter, dry dog food, dried-up tomato vines, sunflower stalks, feathers, seaweed, human and animal hair, and, yes, shredded paper.
