In the Sept. 7 "Survivalist," David Shenk misdated the Daegu, South Korea, subway fire. It occurred in 2003, not 1993.

In the Sept. 6 "Survivalist," David Shenk pegged the dates of the huge Missouri/Tennessee earthquakes as 1911 and 1912. The quakes occurred in 1811 and 1812.

In the Sept. 5 "Explainer," Daniel Engber incorrectly identified a category from a research paper on animal attacks. He wrote "venomous marine mammals" in place of "venomous marine animals."

In the Sept. 5 "Press Box" Jack Shafer incorrectly stated that Lee Siegel's "author" page listed his pre-March 2006 blog entries. Siegel didn't start writing a blog until April 2006. The entries under discussion were for Siegel's Web-only television essays.

In the Sept. 1 "Explainer," Daniel Engber wrongly identified former Sen. Mike Mansfield as a Republican. He was a Democrat.

In the Sept. 1 "Press Box," Jack Shafer misidentified the author of the Knight Science Journalism Tracker item about nicotine yield. It was Boyce Rensberger, substituting for Charles Petit. Also, David Hammond submitted a slightly revised critique of the Massachusetts study, which Jack Shafer posted as a sidebar but failed to update in the body of the piece where the critique was also quoted. The revised paragraph has now been substituted.
