
Actually, certain aspects of a soy-rich diet may promote poor nutrition. Soybeans contain many anti-nutrients: materials that block the action of some digestive enzymes, inhibiting the absorption or benefit of vitamins A, B12, D, and E as well as calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, and zinc. These properties can affect the growth and function of laboratory animals, though they've not been shown to affect humans in the same way.
