For four years, Billie Jean King shared the record for most Wimbledon titles with Elizabeth "Bunny" Ryan, who'd taken 19 doubles championships between 1914 and 1934. On the final Friday of the 1979 tournament, Ryan died of a heart attack on the grounds of the All England club. The next day, King won her 20th title. (The record has since been equaled by her doubles partner that day, Martina Navratilova.)
