No gardening book would ever say so, but hoses are the instruments of the devil. When you try to uncoil your hose, it will kink. It's worth investing in a heavy hose labeled "kink-free." Still, even if you get your hose nicely straightened out, you will inevitably drag it over some treasure, snapping a small plant in two or tearing off the lower branch of a shrub. When you try to coil it up, the hose will go the wrong way and make you feel like a clumsy cowboy messing up a rope trick. It happens to everyone; persevere and you will achieve an acceptable level of plant destruction and personal frustration.
