In the Aug. 18 "Mixing Desk," Neal Ungerleider misidentified the meaning of the word dam in Hebrew and Arabic. It means blood, not fire.

In the Aug. 16 "Books," Emily Wilson misidentified the editor and translator of the new Loeb Library editions of Aristophanes. His name is Jeffrey Henderson.

In the Aug. 16 "Good Word," Benjamin Zimmer wrote that Jodi and Gary Rudoren were married in 2005. They were married in 2004.

In the Aug. 14, "Sports Nut," Stephen Rodrick originally and incorrectly identified Carlos Guillen as a second baseman. He is a shortstop.

In the Aug. 14 "Television," Troy Patterson misspelled the name of photographer Mathew Brady as "Matthew."
