
It's a little unclear what purpose ATSDR serves. It is a U.S. federal public health agency with no regulatory power. Its mandate is to provide "trusted health information" "using the best science." Maybe it's a coincidence, but its Board of Scientific Counselors includes members perhaps a little weak in science but strong in conservative credentials.
