Not so shocking when you remember that a year later Leonard and Felicia Bernstein would throw a fundraiser for the Panthers in their thirteen-room penthouse duplex on Park Ave. Attendees included such dangerous radicals as Barbara Walters, Jason Robards, and Peter Duchin. The party inspired Tom Wolfe's brilliantly funny essay, "Radical Chic."
It isn't clear whether Pryor promised $10,000 in addition to the $1,000 he gave on Jan. 3, or whether Pryor promised $10,000 but only gave $1,000.
