Troy,

I agree that curling is in grave danger of being played out. It works as a quadrennial fascination, but any more than that might be too much of a good thing. Like Who Wants To Be a Millionaire: great as a sweeps stunt, overexposed as a five-night-a-week show. Let Regis Philbin be your object lesson, Bemidjians.

Now that you mention it, I'm totally feeling Sasha Cohen as Juliet. Don't try to ruin my fantasy, Troy. (Or should I call you Mr. Capulet. Either way—you can't keep us apart!)

So, I'd like to bid my final adieu to these games, but they're not really ending. We still have the gala skating exhibition (which, as best I can tell, is no less important than the medal event in the eyes of a true figure skating fan). And of course there are the closing ceremonies, which this year will feature Avril Lavigne. I'm not all that excited to watch Avril Lavigne sing, but I would very much like someone to throw a curling rock at her.

And with that: Arrivederci, Torino. And ciao, Troy.

Until Beijing,
Seth
