Today, John L. Hall and Roy J. Glauber of the United States and Theodor W. Haensch of Germany received the Nobel Prize in physics, joining Barry J. Marshall and Robin Warren, who were awarded this year's Nobel Prize in medicine yesterday. Other winners in chemistry, peace, economics, and literature will be announced early this month. Recipients of the much-coveted prize receive a diploma, a medal, and 10 million Swedish kroner (approximately $1,285,000). Slate honors the august body of individuals who have been awarded this prestigious honor with a photo contest of past winners.
