
Actually there is more rabies than there used to be in America, thanks to some brilliant hunters who weren't satisfied with shooting the local wildlife in Virginia and so imported a truckload of rabies-infected raccoons from Florida. They started an epidemic that has now engulfed the entire Eastern seaboard.
