Jim Romenesko explains why he started his press site:

"In 1998, when I started a media news section on Obscure Store, there wasn't a site (at least that I knew of) that had links to news business stories from alt-weeklies, business publications, monthly magazines, and mainstream newspapers and mags all on one site. My goal was to create that site and share with other news junkies stories that interested me. Of course, the site has expanded beyond that—with letters and memos—but I'm still mostly interested in finding and linking to pieces that people probably wouldn't find on their own. (The Texas Monthly interview with Liz Smith, for example.) To be honest, I didn't say to myself, 'Dammit, I'm going to improve journalism with this thing!' when I started doing this."
