Print-Out Edition

Friday mornings, we publish Slate on Paper, a version of Slate formatted like a traditional magazine on 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper. We support two formats: Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. Each takes about five minutes to download at 14.4K bps (half that at 28.8K) and yields about 40-60 pages.

Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0 or higher.
Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0 (or 5.1 with this converter).
Microsoft Viewer for Word 97, which you can download here free. If you are using the Microsoft Windows 16-bit operating system version 3.1 or later, click click here instead.
Any word processor that can read Microsoft Word 6.0/7.0 files, including recent versions of Lotus Word Pro and Corel WordPerfect.

MySlate Tool

Easily build your own custom-printed version of Slate on Paper, using the MySlate tool available here. Once installed, simply open a copy of Slate on Paper, choose Print MySlate from the Tools menu in Microsoft Word, select the sections you want to print, and print out your own version of Slate on Paper. This tool works with Word 97 only.

Get Slate on Paper by U.S. Mail
