Slate on Paper, published Friday morning, contains the entire contents of each week's issue. The entire issue of Slate on Paper can be anywhere from 44 to 60 or more pages, and 750KB to 1MB in size.

This version can be used with:
- Microsoft Word for Windows, version 6.0 or higher.
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0 (or 5.1 with this converter).
- Microsoft Viewer for Word 97, which you can download here free. If you are using the Microsoft Windows 16-bit operating system version 3.1 or later, click click here instead.
- Any word processor that can read Microsoft Word 6.0/7.0 files, including recent versions of Lotus Word Pro and Corel WordPerfect.
This version requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free.
