What is that on Dan Rather's nose? The cameraman wants to know. I don't, especially. Do you?
It's no surprise to learn that Rather is as clenched in repose—maybe more so—than he is when he's on the air. He is very, very still, especially when the camera switches to a profile shot. Only toward the end does he get to work, shuffling papers and then reading something. Sneak up behind him and shout "boo," and he just might go through the ceiling. I really wouldn't recommend it.
