
I am referring here to "sell-side" analysts, who work for brokerage firms and, in so doing, try to help a wide range of investors (with a wide range of investment criteria) make decisions. "Buy-side" analysts, who work for mutual funds and other investment companies, play a slightly different role in that they usually have very specific goals, time-horizons, and methods for selecting stocks.
