Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments about the detention of around 600 prisoners being held at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. But why does the United States have a base in a hostile, Communist country? In this 2002 "Explainer," Chris Suellentrop reported that it all dates back to the Spanish-American War.
