Like Paul Cameron, Jeffrey Satinover is little known outside religious-right circles. A psychiatrist in private practice, he has crusaded for the cause of converting gays to heterosexuality. A devout adherent of Orthodox Judaism, Satinover is perhaps better known in the wider world as the author of Cracking the Bible Code. The book, published this fall, recounts what Satinover calls the "most important scientific research ever undertaken," namely, cryptographic inquiries into "certain sequences of letters forming words that cannot be the result of chance" in the Holy Torah. These, he says, predict future events.
