A new front has been opened in the Clone War. Korean scientists announced today that they have cloned human embryos and extracted stem cells from them. Cloning opponents have already condemned the experiment. Ever since Scottish scientists created the cloned sheep Dolly back in 1997, Slate has been covering the cloning battle. When Dolly was born, Nathan Myrhvold argued that opposition to cloning is a form of racism. Robert Wright and Francis Fukuyama debated how the law should treat human cloning. William Saletan explained how cloning opponents on President Bush's bioethics panel got their way. Saletan also handicapped the fight between cloners and anti-cloners over when life begins.
