
Advice to BushInterrupt Russert before he interrupts you!
Posted Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at 3:49 PM ETPresident George Bush hopes to end his losing streak (the let's-go-to-Mars initiative, the WMD debacle, the flat State of the Union, as James Carville put it) with a winning performance on Tim Russert's Meet the Press. Somewhere along the line, Russert acquired a reputation as a tough interviewer. But as Jack Shafer pointed out last summer in "How To Beat Tim Russert," the master interlocutor isn't invulnerable. If Bush hopes to trump Russert, he should read this piece first.
