Corrections

In the Dec. 9 edition of "In Other Magazines," in The New Yorker item, Josh Levin misattributed the quote, "doing hits on grudges," to William Colby, former director of the Phoenix Program who died in 1996. The quotation came instead from a special forces official.

In a Dec. 8 "War Stories," Fred Kaplan originally referred to the Army chief of staff as a major general. In fact, Peter Schoomaker is a full four-star general.

In a Dec. 6 "Chatterbox" column, Timothy Noah mistranscribed "term limited" as "sure limited."
