
Interestingly, a 2002 New Yorker profile of Hollywood publicist Bumble Ward suggested that Tarantino's long period of isolation has been a crafty response to 1990s overexposure: "Everyone began saying 'What's he doing?' and thinking he was a recluse," Ward told Tad Friend. "So to satisfy that curiosity we had him do one of those 'Watching Movies With' pieces in the Friday Times [in 2000]. And then we locked him up again."
