In Vietnam, women who were sympathetic to the Viet Cong carried weapons in what seemed to be household bundles. In Bosnia, Serbs went so far as to steal U.N. uniforms and vehicles and then announce on megaphones that they were peacekeepers who had come to guarantee the security of Muslims who would surrender. Many Muslims fell for the trick and were lined up and shot.
