Slate Hires Technology Writer Farhad Manjoo
New Column To Provide Tech Culture Analysis
WASHINGTON, July 14, 2008—Slate, the daily online magazine, today announced it will expand its technology coverage with a regular column by leading technology writer Farhad Manjoo. The column, to be published twice a week, will focus on how technology affects politics, business, culture and society as well as cover new gadgets, products and trends.
"Farhad Manjoo is one of the best technology writers in the industry. He's enthusiastic about innovation but always casts a skeptical eye on emerging trends and products," said David Plotz, Slate's Editor. "His curiosity for the latest development combined with his deep understanding of Internet culture are an ideal match for Slate. We're sure our readers will look forward to his regular analysis in addition to the technology coverage we already offer."
Manjoo joins Slate from Salon.com where he covered technology for over six years and wrote a daily blog called "Machinist." He is the author of the book True Enough: Learning to Live in a Post-Fact Society which examines propaganda on the Web, cable news and talk radio. He's based in San Francisco, Calif.
