Slate Breaks Into Top 20 News Sites for December

NEW YORK—Slate edged its way into the top 20 most-trafficked news sites for the month of December, coming in at No. 19 with 4.594 million unique visitors, according to Nielson/NetRatings' U.S. home and work data.

Slate edged out Cox Newspapers for the spot, and bumped Advance's collection of newspaper and TV sites down to No. 20. Yahoo! News retained its position as the most trafficked site, with 24.626 unique users, down a slight 44,000 from November. MSNBC recorded an increase of 611,000 visitors over the previous month, placing it at No. 2 with 22,911.
