JC Penney Goes Page to Page on Slate With Special Single-Advertiser Issue
(Arlington, Va.—Nov. 14, 2005) Award-winning content and a smart, savvy audience convinced national retailer JCPenney to launch a unique online campaign as the sole advertiser on Slate, the popular web magazine, for an entire day.
The ad campaign will launch on Monday Nov. 14, 2005. For the full day, all banners and other display units throughout the site will feature advertising exclusively from JCPenney.
JCPenney is one of America's largest department stores, and operates the nation's largest catalog of general merchandise, including jcpenney.com, its e-commerce site. The campaign will feature advertising for jcpgifts.com.
Cliff Sloan, publisher of Slate, said, "Slate's fresh take on the world attracts the kind of informed audience that matches JC Penny's branding strategy. This ad project presents a great opportunity to do something innovative and connect to that audience."
Slate was the recent recipient of three awards from the Online News Association, in categories including Enterprise Journalism and Online Commentary.
