In Texas last month, a federal court found another DeMille monument on the Capitol Grounds—which the state Web site proudly declares to be "hewn from Texas 'Sunset Red' granite"—constitutional. The judge found that the state's intent for the monument, "to help stop the alarming increase in delinquency," served a legitimate secular purpose. While it's not clear how many delinquent youths the monument has actually deterred, this secular purpose was enough to save the monument.
