At the crossroads of Johnson and Kline-Johnson Roads near Clarksdale, Miss., a lonely bluesman waits. The legend of selling your soul to the devil has its roots in African folk tradition, and Robert Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and other blues artists were rumored to have learned their chops from the angel of darkness at the crossroads at midnight.
