Be careful if the price is a lot less. The set could be an older model, which cannot display high-definition images. More and more TV shows are being broadcast in high-def. Devices will soon be common that let you "up-convert" DVD images to high-def. It is silly to spend more than $1,000 on any sort of TV set unless it can display at least 720 horizontal lines. Look at the spec sheet under "Resolution." If a plasma TV has a "pixel array" of 640 x 480 or 852 x 480, it is not ready for high-definition. If it's something like 1024 x 1024, 1280 x 768, or 1366 x 768, it is.
