Who are these people?

Dear Dwight,

I just heard the terrible news about Danny Pearl. Only on hearing about his death do I realize that I had somehow been thinking he was alive this whole time. The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that he may have been targeted, in part, because he was Jewish. I can't stop thinking about the fact that he didn't want to go into Afghanistan because it was too dangerous because he had a baby on the way. The whole thing is too awful for words.
