53. WILL KONNEKER--$6.25 million to OHIO UNIVERSITY to endow undergraduate scholarships from the co-founder of Nuclear Research & Development in St. Louis.

54. ERIC J. GLEACHER--$6.1 million to NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY (Ill.) for men's and women's golf programs. The largest donation made to a collegiate golf program, it will finance construction of a new indoor golf facility named for Gleacher and will endow the teams. Gleacher, who graduated from Northwestern in 1962, is chairman and CEO of the international investment banking firm Gleacher NatWest.

55. GEORGE BEHRAKIS--$6 million to NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY (Mass.) for a new health sciences building for the College of Nursing and the Bouvé College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Behrakis, a 1957 pharmacy alumnus and a trustee of the university, is chairman, president, and CEO of Muro Pharmaceutical Inc., a manufacturer of asthma, allergy, and respiratory products in Tewksbury, Mass.

55. THE RICHARD E. and SANDY DAUCH FAMILY--$6 million to PURDUE UNIVERSITY (Ind.). Of this, $5 million will go to the School of Management and the Krannert Graduate School of Management. The family also has committed $1 million over the next five years to support various initiatives within Purdue athletics. Richard Dauch is chairman of the board, CEO, and president of American Axle & Manufacturing in Detroit.

55. THE FRED and ANN JAINDL FAMILY--$6 million to LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPITAL (Salisbury, Pa.). The gift will fund completion of a five story wing to be named the Fred Jaindl Family Pavilion. Fred Jaindl is the owner of Jaindl Turkey Farm in Orefield.

55. RAY and NANCY MURRAY--$6 million to the COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF TAMPA BAY, Fla., the single largest donation in its eight year history. Half the gift has been designated for endowments to benefit the Florida Orchestra, children's education programs at the Ruth Eckerd Hall, and domestic violence shelters and educational programs for women and troubled families. The rest will be given to other causes yet to be identified. The Murrays earned their fortune from their 26 Tampa-area companies, which deal in products ranging from auto parts to telecommunications equipment.

55. HAROLD RILEY--$6 million to SOUTHWESTERN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY (Texas) for the capital campaign from the chairman, founder, and CEO of Citizens Insurance in Austin. Riley said he made the gift in honor of his late father, the Rev. Ray Riley, who got his training at the seminary in the 1940s, and his other heroes.

55. ALBERT and JANE WOHLERS--$6 million to the UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS from these alumni to reconstruct the Commerce West building at the Urbana-Champaign campus. Al Wohlers owns Albert H. Wohlers & Co., an insurance agency that specializes in products for professional and association groups.

61. CARL and RUTH SHAPIRO--$5.5 million to the MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS (Boston). The gift will be used to renovate the museum's upper rotunda and colonnade and to restore the John Singer Sargent murals on the rotunda ceiling, as well as for outreach and education. The Shapiros are former Boston residents who now live in Palm Beach, Fla.

62. LILLIAN R. and the late JACK N. BERKMAN--$5.4 million to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL. The donation will support the school's Center for Internet and Society, which was established last year. The Center will be renamed in honor of the Berkmans. The Berkmans' gift will also endow the newly created Jack N. and Lillian R. Berkman Professorship for Entrepreneurial Legal Studies. Lillian Berkman is a vice president of The Associated Group.
