I'm curious what our New York contingent thinks of today's mayoral primary. Should Giuliani get an extension? A shot at a whole other term? In public he's demurring, but the papers have reported that, in private, he says he thinks the people of NY should get to vote for whomever they want. That's a classic anti-term limit argument, and not a bad one, but this is a strange time to bring it up, no? What he really means is, he has been an amazing presence these past couple of weeks, and New Yorkers would find it comforting to know he'd be around a while longer. That's not a bad argument either, but I'd expect the famously blunt mayor to be a little more honest about his motivation.
