Dubya Is Smarter Than We Think

Dear Wlad,

"Opposition to Ashcroft really comes down to nothing more than bigotry and spite." True--up to a point. But the Democratic votes against him in the Senate come down to no more than an eye on the 2004 nomination.

Still believe W. is smarter than he's given credit for. I repeat that--only because (judging from "The Fray") his stupidity appears to be an article of faith among his critics. Reminds me of the kind of people who, 20 years after graduation, still feel the need to compare SAT scores.

Ciao,
Bill
