Apologies, Residuals and Newt Gingrich

Harry, speaking about long overdue things, I just got a check for $24 for residuals--"in compliance with the AFTRA Codes of Fair Practice"--for an appearance last summer with Conan O'Brien. First of all, I hope your residuals are better. Second, I didn't know one got residuals for appearing on these shows. Are we getting residuals for guest-hosting Equal Time last August?

O.K., I will leave that Stone unturned. But at least I hope we'll be able to get C-SPAN in hi-definition. The only thing better than watching Newt Gingrich commit incredible political blunders is watching Newt commit incredible political blunders in crisp, sharp detail. Like this week. If there's one thing a delicate peace process needs, it's the subtle, seductive, smooth manner of master of disaster himself, Newt Gingrich. There he was, publicly criticizing U.S. foreign policy from the well of the Israeli legislature. But, it's nice to see that Newt doesn't reserve his amazing political skills just for one country. Newt's hubris is for the world.

Off to KCRW to do Left Right & Center with Bob (Scheer) and Matt (Miller).
