Arianna Huffington and Harry Shearer

"Paks"

Arianna, I'm starting off briefly, because today I'm skipping breakfast. Did you see Sandy Berger on CNN yesterday, explaining his efforts to keep the Pakistanis from exploding a nuclear "device" (sounds like something you buy at The Sharper Image)? He kept referring to them as the "Paks." He corrected himself the first time, and then, for the remainder of the interview, it was the "Paks." As in, "The Paks can certainly raise themselves to another level of the international discourse if they refuse to respond in kind." Has Berger conferred with the Japs about this policy? Also, how come, in the welter of news about the crisis in Indonesia, we've heard nothing about the whereabouts of the Riadys and Pauline Kanchanalak? Have they gone to hide in China, or are they seeking asylum in Dan Burton's office right about now?
