Dear Andrew,

Paul was your favorite Beatle? You are an old softie, aren't you? I liked John best-although (as with Challenger disaster, death of President Kennedy, and many other supposedly defining tragedies of our era, I did not weep, fall apart, question my reasons for living or nature of American identity when he was murdered. I just soldiered on in my self-centered oblivious way). It is sad about Linda, though. But why do you want all those creepy politicians to praise her marriage? Hasn't poor Paul suffered enough?

ps. My daughter's favorite Beatle is George. I don't understand this.
