The Political Party
Posted Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at 1:21 PM ETHello, Bob:
So, Go Knicks, right? I'm kind of buggin' on how the whole Rudy/Hillary thing is getting played out in the Post and the Daily News. And I must say also this is the most I've checked out these papers since I've lived here. What's the deal with the politics? I mean, it's all a joke, right? They are the student council and we are the kids? And we all think we are too cool for their care-about-what's-going-on antics, they think we are slacky wish-we-could-be-thems who are satisfied to go along however crankily with whatever dance they provide the music for.
And regarding the sportswriter/black athlete thing, I think I just tune them out like I tune out the announcers during the game. Game Three I watch at Lot 61 with Hot 97-like music playing in the background. Busta, Ice Cube, 702, Puffy, Nas, Mase, Naughty by Nature, Missy. Interesting. I liked it like that. Gotta run! Closing still, and: I'm 34 today. Trying to pretend like I have a life. (But I'll write you back again today, of course.)
P.S.: Do they run those pictures of Bill Clinton actually touching people (see the Times' front page) because they know it makes people like me think he's a little bit human and a little bit courageous ... even though down deep I know the whole shot is totally set up?
