Re: "Crow-Jimism"
Posted Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at 1:11 PM ETCertainly his role as "adviser" to Tawana Brawley, when she made up that story about being raped and smeared with excrement by a group of whites, is the best, or worst, example. During that time he accused the local D.A. of having participated in this gangbang that never happened, and then when he was sued for defamation, he remained unrepentant and got away with hardly a slap on the wrist. Later, he was involved in inciting a mob to burn down a white-owned store in Harlem, and again suffered no consequences. On the contrary, he is now treated with respect by most of the media and even as a serious contender for political office. Throughout this alleged process of becoming a "moderate," he has repeatedly used incendiary language against white politicians, and he has done everything in his power to persuade his fellow blacks that they have more to fear from the police than from the drug dealers and muggers who prey upon them.
