
Court TV callers had been berating Scheck for his aggressive cross-examinations of nanny-trial witnesses, when Simpson phoned in to defend his old advocate. Simpson admitted that though he had received lots of letters during the trial criticizing Scheck, "I thought it was more rooted in maybe a certain animus towards his New York ... Jewish style ... than what he was actually doing in the courtroom." And, Simpson added, "every member of that jury said that he was their favorite lawyer. ... One thing about Barry, ... he's always interesting."
