Whopper of the Week: Hillary Clinton

"I did not have any involvement in the pardons that were granted or not granted. ..."

--Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at her Feb. 22 news conference.

"[S]he did sit in on a meeting President Clinton had late last year with leaders of a New York Hasidic Jewish group, in which the leaders sought clemency for members of their group who are serving prison terms for fraud and embezzlement. Ultimately, President Clinton reduced the men's prison terms just before leaving office."

--John Harwood and Gary Fields, Wall Street Journal, Feb. 23.

Reader Comments From The Fray:

As anyone who has been regularly reading Explainer knows, reducing a sentence is a commutation, not a pardon. So, Chatterbox has not presented any evidence that Hillary was involved in a pardon.
