As if Pat Buchanan hasn't been generous enough in equipping the press with off-the-cuff comments and chapter-long screeds that mark him as a Nazi sympathizer! Yesterday's "Week in Review" section of the New York Times reached into the Associated Press photo archives for this 1996 shot of Buchanan launching what appears to be a Nazi salute across the U.S./Mexico border into Tijuana to illustrate a story about Buchanan and the Reform Party. (The photo was also published in the Times Web edition. That copy is reproduced here.)

For the record, nowhere in the Times story are Buchanan's views on immigration or Mexico discussed.
