Biden was right
by make the case

It's already a losing game when the penalty for stealing an election is redo please, not jailtime.

And we do all this so we can maintain a cretinous puppet who controls about two-thirds of Kabul and owns the world's best collection of lamb fetus hats.

Re: Biden was right

That's really unfunny. Partisan politics is irrelevant here.

Karzai thiefed millions of votes. What are we when we have to say "that's okay, you're still our guy" because we have no better option. It's over. He's dirty (and here I don't just mean as in cheater; he's an agent of the enemy). He makes the Taliban stronger. We're way better off negotiating with the Taliban.

What part of Afghanistan do you live in?
Who is "we", paleface?

Who is better off if US starts negotiating with Taliban?
Re: Biden was right

Bush was challenged to find Afghanistan on a map. Cheney referred to Germany, France, Austria etc as "Old Europe" and basically said that they were irrelevant. Is that your idea of competent foreign policy?

Of course he will delay announcing his policy change while the Afghans work out their election issues. We don't get to pick the leaders in Afghanistan. We did that in Iran in the 1950's and see how that worked out?

The USA. The Taliban are easily bought off. We give them total immunity and they'll expel al qaeda from Afghanistan for the next thousand years. Its shame we will have to expose the afghan people to sumbags like the Taliban, but as my dad use to say that's the way the cookie crumbles, besides you can't fight someone else's battle.

Bush was challenged to find Afghanistan on a map.

Actually, it was Obama who did not how many states there are in America. Bush could find Afghanistan all right.

Cheney referred to Germany, France, Austria etc as "Old Europe" and basically said that they were irrelevant. Is that your idea of competent foreign policy?

President of France had no problem calling US "hyperpower" - and yet, the French are considered great diplomats. It's not the words that matter, comrade. Right now, Obama is in the pleasing mood, and he spits on US allies like Israel and Eastern Europe - and gets mocked by "Old Europe". It's no surprise that "Old Europe" showed Obie the middle finger when he asked for more troops in Afghanistan. You see, real life is tougher than obamanists think it is.

Of course he will delay announcing his policy change while the Afghans work out their election issues.

So, the US troops are free to die until Afghans solve all their issues. Ahm. Funny.

We don't get to pick the leaders in Afghanistan. We did that in Iran in the 1950's and see how that worked out?

Iran was progressive for a few decades after Iranians ousted the communist would-be-dcitator. That bought us some time. Then Carter chose Khomenei (he was a nice guy, you see) and prohibited the Shah from putting down the islamo-fascists - and we got the terrorists state. And now, Obama is picking leaders in Honduras - and as one would expect, he chose the communist.

"The Taliban are easily bought off."

Yes, because Islam is a religion of personal financial gain....

Re: Biden was right
by make the case

Irrelevant.

There is zero reason to believe that the Taliban (and/or their allies and agents) can be routed and the nation can be pacified (by a foreign power). Nothing in this war, nothing in previous Afghan wars, nothing in previous American wars, and nothing about Afghanistan itself that makes it strategic or compelling enough to hold American interest.

Once you accept there is no military victory on the horizon or even available, the next best thing is some sort of quid pro quo. And this should be something that Obama, Biden, Hillary and Kerry should be good at, no? Aren't they all great talkers?

Re: Biden was right

I'm amazed.

You think that the Iranians were better off with the Shah, after we helped overthrow the elected government? You think Obama is picking the leader of Honduras? I'm impressed by your razor thin intellect.

You think that Obama's current delay is allowing our troops to die while waiting for the Afghans to solve their issues? Simply amazing. If the CinC ordered 40,000 new troops to Afghanistan, how soon do you think they'd be on their way? It is my feeling that they are working out troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan and will implement the decision before they actually announce it.

Where the fuck did you get the idea that Carter chose Khomeni? The Shah and Savak were busily torturing those who disagreed with his reign. Carter chose not to continue support for a dictator. The Iranians chose their leader, not Carter.

The truly sad thing is that we cannot engage in a reasonable and adult debate on issues because you and others like you are so busily engaging in fabricating crap to throw at Obama and his administration.

Its a religion of prestige gain

Islam is a religion of prestige gain - hence the Sunni/Shia split.

US can easily afford to trade in prestige.

Obama said that Afghan war is the right war...
by gringo_911
And he intends to defeat the Taliban. Are you saying his promise is worth nothing?

I'm amazed.

I am sure you are. Everyday brings something new.

You think that the Iranians were better off with the Shah, after we helped overthrow the elected government?

Yes, since Iranian military overthrew the communist would-be dictator. Check out how communism worked in the 20th century.

You think Obama is picking the leader of Honduras? I'm impressed by your razor thin intellect.

Yes, he declared sanctions against the people of Honduras until they reinstall the communist putchist, i.e. the president. This in spite of the fact that the communist president brokethe Consitution. Sounds like Obama did pick the leader for Honduras.

You think that Obama's current delay is allowing our troops to die while waiting for the Afghans to solve their issues? Simply amazing.

The military are saying they need extra troops. Now, if you are on the battfield, and you aks for help - and the president says - sorry, I am in Copenghagen, call me later - is this good or the country?

If the CinC ordered 40,000 new troops to Afghanistan, how soon do you think they'd be on their way?

The sooner you order, the sooner they get there. Right?

It is my feeling that they are working out troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan and will implement the decision before they actually announce it.

You think they are secretly moving 40,000 troops as we speak? It's your "feeling"? Hm.

Where the fuck did you get the idea that Carter chose Khomeni?

Because Carter told the Shah not to use the army to suppress Khomeini. Moreover, his advisors told him that Khomeini was a swell guy, as did the NYT. A reformer, they said.

The Shah and Savak were busily torturing those who disagreed with his reign. Carter chose not to continue support for a dictator. The Iranians chose their leader, not Carter.

Carter chose to pressure the Shah not to suppress Khomeini. And we all knkow how it all ended. With mass murder, torture, war and terrorism. Thank you, Mr.Carter for a swell job. And no, Khomeini was NOT elected by the people - he was put in charge by an angry mob of teabaggers.

The truly sad thing is that we cannot engage in a reasonable and adult debate on issues because you and others like you are so busily engaging in fabricating crap to throw at Obama and his administration.

Amazingly though, I know the facts, and you don't - but this does not stop you in any way.

What happens when you lose "prestige"?
by gringo_911
You think Islamists will give you a medal for this? Ask women, ex-moslems and gays in moslem countries - how they live without the "prestige".

Of course just like every other religion.
