The reason Denny was booted from the Poems Fray, and the reason why he may be banned from the Fray in general, are one in the same.

After I gave him a second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance, and a fifth chance, he continued to disobey the very simple rules that applied to the Poems Fray and the very simple rules which I have given him in his post PF existence.

Denny was using a sock puppet, one GretchenRyan, and when caught and confronted with it, he owned up. I told Denny, however, that if he broke anymore of the PFray rules, which I publicized here, then he would be banned from posting on the Poems Fray.

When he again broke the rules (referring to several PFray posters as miscreants), I told him that he could no longer post on PFray and would be relegated to KFS and BOTF, where the same PFray rules do not apply.

I warned him that if he discussed the reasons for his removal from PFray or tried to post on PFray with a sock puppet I would ban him from the boards all together.

Currently, Denny is emailing me using the name of another sock puppet, Ggoodbody, which he used to try to post on the Poems Fray after I expressly told him not to do so. Despite the fact that I know for certain and have irrefutable evidence that they are one in the same - and have told him as much - he is continuing to try to play off his ruse.

While I don't at all feel like I owe Denny any more explanations, I figured I might as well give the rest of you explanations in case Denny acts out again, suddenly disappears, and you start to wonder why.

My only message to Denny with this statement is that this is your final warning. Stop posting on PFray, stop using sock puppets, stop pretending to be someone you are not. And don't dare pretend like what I've said isn't true. If you can continue to post on KFS and BOTF without breaking any rules or violating what I've just requested of you, then you will be okay. If not, you will be done.

I'm sorry for this distraction.

I guess that explains why his top post was deleted a few minutes ago. He linked to an explanation and Stellbucket responded and I wondered since I was under the understanding if someone posted a reply, a post couldn't be deleted.

All of his friends warned him repeatedly in email over and over and over again to knock his shit off.

We all saw him veering out of control again. And warned him about it.

I have already written to you about that a few times. All I can say is I hope he does take this chance he still has to post at all and not mess it up again. We can only hope.

Meanwhile, he's getting some grief from the Youre' Stupid poster and a few others. Perhaps that's to be expected.

I always wish him well. This must have been difficult to deal with. No doubt about that.

This is the first time in my years on the Fray that I recall an Editor taking the time to explain his actions to the population in a comprehendable, non-condescending manner. It is a pleasant change and I appreciate it very much. I know others do as well.

It makes sense to me to have some Frays with strict rules and some with loose ones, so people can migrate to forums that best fit their style and preferences. My preference is for the rule-free Kausfiles Special forum. At least I'd like it to be rule-free. There should be at least one forum where we're allowed to regulate ourselves, without Slate babysitters. So, I'd like to politely request that whatever Denny has or hasn't done on other forums, and whatever he may do there in the future, he at least be allowed to keep posting here.

BTW, are you sure that the "sock puppet" was Denny? I'd guess you're just assuming it based on some sort of IP address, etc., that your system logs. But if Denny and the other ID just happened to be posting from behind the same DNS router, within a LAN sharing the same IP address, wouldn't they show up as being the same, from your perspective? Similarly, if they both happened to post from the same computer, in a computer lab for example, wouldn't they even share the same cookies, despite being two different individuals?

It was Denny...trust me on this one.

BTW.. all those traces are now erased.. the "Ancient Tribal Wisdom" thread has been pruned back to a few citations.

The only good thing out of this mess is that Jeremy told everyone to hit the,"Abuse," button,and for those who make a habit of stalking others this will be the chance to use it.

And I think Loree will agree with me, it will be a valuable tool.
