2008 BOTF pundit postmortem
by TheBrewmaster
+10/-1 Reply

Change has finally come, but there's one thing that never changes: over the course of the campaign, the vast majority of BOTF prognostications were as wildly off base as they've always been...

A Republican will win the White House in 2008...that's not even open to debate.
JackDallas, 18 August 2007

Rudy will be the next president, and you can take that to the bank.
JackDallas, 30 November 2007

McCain will be the next President of the United States.
Rainman, aka JackDallas, 29 January 2008

McCain over Obama by 5% or more.baltimore aureole, 15 February

Obama will lose to McCain...trust me... I don't think the guy's got a snowball's chance in hell. Dawn Coyote, 27 February

They will cream him... I'm that sure that The Ole Warrior will pull it off.
Lunesta, 27 February

It can safely be said in this instance that our Republic will end with McCain's election. theNairobiTrio, 26 April

The Democrats' best shot is a heart attack.Fritz Gerlich, 7 May

McCain will beat Obama by at least 4 percentage points in the general election.
baltimore aureole, 8 May

The American people are not going to vote for a guy who sat in that lunatic racist anti American Church for twenty years and then tried to wiggle and lie his way out and all around that fact...Additionally...the NBC/MSNBC media also killed Obama's small chance to be president by shilling for him so annoyingly, endlessly, day in and day out, that it turned many Americans right off.LaurieAnnM, 20 August

Obama will not be elected President of the United States...A cult of moonies worshiping an empty vessel will attain a pinnacle of hope, expectation, and premature bliss, only to have it crushed under the heel of the wisdom of the American people like Atticus Finch powdering the lenses of his broken glasses after shooting a rabid dog.Kazillions, 2 October

The companies doing all this polling FOR Obama are very clearly biased.
Demcon, 2 November

Of course, not everyone was wrong about everything:

If Obama is the nominee, he'll win. Call it women's intuition, (this woman, at least) but thats my prediction.topazz, 27 February

Some people will have egg on their face come Wednesday, however, and that will be interesting indeed.Demcon, 2 November

It will be beautiful.Kazillions, 2 October

<<buuuuuurrrrrp>>
by Kazillions

Kaz, standing shirtless in the room, the fumes of last night's vodka almost visibly wafting off his pale white back, a sheen of hang over grease sending disturbing reflections to the eyes of horrified onlookers, scratching his tummy, blinking behind his glasses and wondering why the world won't stop tilting.

Having already given his shirt to someone else, in order to replace the one one which he regurgitated, he has listened to the Brewmaster's words, and is slowly trying to figure them out.

It is almost as if a nearly dead light bulb flickers briefly above his head, and he nods to himself, certain this is the right thing to do. Kaz, trying to keep his balance and some semblance of a gentlemanly demeanor, removes his pants and hands them to the Brewmaster with an expression of great magnanimity. He is now standing in his boxers with dirty socks on, trying to fart only discreetly, and awaiting more who would like to engage in a well deserved gloat.

Oh gee, selective quotation.

How very Ender-ian of you. As the former Lunesta, may I point out that for the past several months, I have been saying (as Speaker Nancy) that Obama would/will most likely win this one and not by a small margin, either? Thanks.

Also, I would love to know if you were involved, and to what degree, as a member of the approved Net-press/media last night? And where and how? Thanks, E.

Best regards to you & "Betty the Crow," as always.

SN/t.

p.s. would love a reply to my recently Top Posted Fray Poll, if you have a minute, thanks.

locked for a fact check!

SpeakerNancy:

I don't know what you're smoking, Scooter, but I think I'll pass. Good luck thinking the American public is going to elect someone named "Hussein" to its Presidency. And you meant "there," not "their," btw.

Funny stuff, thanks.
by SpeakerNancy
Also, if you have a minute, could you take a look at my new Top Post? Although meant in a spirit of bi-partisan openness & intellectual curiosity, two of the more rabid BO-BOTS have decided to downrate it, without participating IN the Poll itself. I really had hoped that more people today would at least TRY to rise above it. If we are going to move forward and in a spirit of unity, I should think more people would show more respect for their own on-line community. Thanks, Todd.
Breaking my own rule to avoid you ...
by SpeakerNancy

what's the date on that one, you obsessive stalker? And as for YOUR downrating my perfectly acceptable, neutral, well-intentioned Top Post, how do you think that makes YOU look, Catty-lin?

(answer: "Petty and small-minded, plus a bad sport & sore winner."

I have to say, you may have broken your OWN world land speed record in pulling out a post of mine in order to contradict me. Just how many giga-bytes on your various computers DO YOU HAVE
devoted to tracking & recording my old posts? It's a very, very sick behavior, Cait. VERY. Seek help, OK?

Will do
by Kazillions

But I beg understanding. It would by downright uncivil to hold me accountable for anything I say in this condition. ;-)

(wobbling slowly over to the bulletin board)

it was more recent than "several months" ago...
by catnapping

as was this one, from just last month:

SpeakerNancy:

Disagree ... McCain by two points, as tight a margin as some recent victories by our favorite & second favorite, respectably, football team. Obama has an extremely annoying personal aura that he gives off; I know thdse cretin-BOTS over here worship the guy but I can barely watch him without revulsion, frankly. So friggin' arrogant for someone with no experience, just totally audacious. I keep trying to give the guy a break because agree with him on so many ISSUES -- but every time I watch him for more than a 60-second ad, he totally repulses me. His persona REEKS of being untrustworthy, personally as well as politically. As you know, I can smell a phony from 1,000 miles away and I smell him, constantly. The wife is worse, imho. She comes across as such a massive thug.

lol... LAM comment about MSNBC was a hoot, as if

anyone actually watched that channel.

Hello my friend; a rare pleasure.
Well, gollEEEEEEEEEE..."I'll be blunt" ...
by SpeakerNancy

Cat. Whoop de doo, ten points for you. Why is this stuff so important to you? Is it the obsessive-compulsiveness that you are cursed by? What's really bugging you this morning, I am curious? You should be in hog heaven, no? Btw, isn't that a little tacky-- Having 'bumpworthy" -- one of your own MANY nicks no doubt, give YOU an uprate? I still remember the days when you were carrying around TWENTY-SEVEN phony nicks & got caught out by Editor Kevin Arnovitz. :-)

I bet you really miss being able to post as 'katydont,' don't you.

Tsk-tsk. As for my comment above about Obama, I do still find him personally offensive but ... I'm with him on the issues, always have been. And that's what it comes down to, in the end. I would have voted for Joe Biden in a flash, ditto Bill Richardson and of course, Hillary.

Re: Will do - thanks, I see that you did.
by SpeakerNancy
How are those shorts holding up? :-) Btw, would it be OK to send you an occasional email? I saw your addy last night in your post to Woolley. Thanks & if not, I totally understand. SN/t (you know, I really liked "Gazillions" better, Todd! Pride of authorship, I guess.)

I didn't figure on Acorn voter fraud and such a high level of Dem cheating. If they had not been allowed to cheat, I would have been right.

It's okay, though. Now they have no one to blame but themselves when it all goes to shit.

I have talked to both you women on the phone on a number of occasions. Do you both know that, on the telephone, your voices are almost indistinguishable from one another. Both are low and sultry and capable of giving a man a boner if he happens to lose his train of thought.
