Dr. Evil Stops by The Tonight Show to Discuss His Time Working for the Trump Administration

Another day, another Trump administration official fired. That means another crazy post-mortem interview from someone who shouldn’t have been allowed within a hundred miles of the United States government to begin with. The latest person to learn the consequences of hitching your star to Donald Trump? None other than Dr. Evil, who seems to have gone back to his old evil ways after being reunited with his long-lost brother Austin Powers during Goldmember.

Now that Trump’s fired him, Dr. Evil is ready to step out of the shadows and take credit for some of the evil things he did while working at the White House, from inventing the border wall to befriending Ben Carson. But he’s not taking the rap for Trump’s DACA madness; apparently some things are too evil even for cartoonishly evil supervillains. Political junkies hungry for all the gory details will have to wait for his upcoming White House tell-all: Fire and Fury and Also Evil and More Fire and Also Magma Too.

The jokes are a little cornball in the best Austin Powers tradition, but the segment is worth watching just for how much fun Mike Meyers is having. Part of it is being back in the Dr. Evil costume, but he also clearly relishes the chance to insult the Trump administration on national television. Meyers was on Saturday Night Live from 1989 to 1995, which means he only had George H.W. Bush and a pre-Lewinski scandal Bill Clinton to work with, and it’s great to see him with a target he can really dig his teeth into. It’s just a shame it came with so much evil.
