Of course Levi Johnston is publishing a book. Why not? Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs will be out September 27, published by the Simon & Schuster imprint Touchstone, which previously brought us The Bro Code .

Johnston's book will be released one week after Joe McGinniss's long-awaited Palin bio The Rogue . Whatever the meaning of that coincidental timing is, it's not lost on McGinniss.

"The publisher of that division of S&S passed on my Palin proposal in 2008," McGinniss told me. "So she winds up with Levi instead."
