Cindy Sheehan, who has come a long way since her 2005 protests against the Iraq War, has some thoughts about bin Laden .
I am sorry, but if you believe the newest death of OBL, you're stupid. Just think to yourself--they paraded Saddam's dead sons around to prove they were dead--why do you suppose they hastily buried this version of OBL at sea? This lying, murderous Empire can only exist with your brainwashed consent--just put your flags away and THINK!
Easy to pick on her, but she's only ahead of the conspiracy curve. The death and disposal of OBL has all the kindling necessary for a good paranoid fairy tale -- "Deatherism," perhaps? There have been false reports of previous "deaths," as she says; there are no photos (which might be one reason why Joe Lieberman wants to see them); the body will probably never be found. And because this isn't going to end terrorism overnight, anyone who wants to believe that OBL was always some figurehead or hologram can start finding "proof" for his useful idiocy.
You do have to feel sorry, at some level, for Sheehan. Last night I met a military dad who felt that bin Laden's death meant that his late son, who'd fought in Iraq, had died for something. Sheehan may never have closure or satisfaction.
